Reports have surfaced that the Yankees are interested in free agent Travis Hafner. He could possibly fill the role that Ibanez played in 2012. Hafner is a lefty power hitter, which is always useful in Yankee Stadium. Although he is primarily a DH, he could also fill in at first base every once in a while.
However, over the last 5 seasons, Hafner has only played over 100 games once, which occurred in 2010. So, staying healthy has been a problem. Even when healthy last season, Hafner only hit .228, with 12 home-runs and 34 RBI’s in 66 games.
