ARod’s Final Week Is Becoming A Circus

Alex Rodriguez has always been polarizing, so naturally his retirement (which this is not) was going to be eventful. As if the awkward press conference on Sunday morning was not enough, the Yankees are making a mockery of ARod’s final games.

Wait, so you’re telling me the Yankees did NOT have a plan for ARod’s final four games? Or maybe Joe Girardi was simply not privy to the plan when he spoke on Sunday?

The above comment by Girardi is ridiculous and dysfunctional. It is right up there with Terry Collins saying that for all he knew, Jay Bruce was fast.

I understand that Alex can no longer help the Yankees win games, but everything that happened over the past three weeks indicates that is not the organization’s main priority any more. They traded Aroldis Chapman, Andrew Miller, Carlos Beltran, and Ivan Nova for the future, but are now suddenly worried about the present when it comes to ARod.

They are fine with Mark Teixeira being in the everyday lineup as he finishes his career, but not ok with Alex playing four more games before he tucks his tail between his legs and goes home on August 12.

The whole retirement/release was positioned to media and fans as an amicable split between ARod and the organization, but it is becoming more clear that it was not.

It appears ARod will start Thursday in Boston vs Steven Wright, a knuckleballer, and then in his final game on Friday at the Stadium. He has not started a game since July 30 and only has 2 at bats since. For a 41-year old who I’m sure would like to end his career on a high note, he will be going into his final two games fighting an uphill battle. The way I see it, this is a giant f-you by the Yankees to ARod on his way out the door.

We already knew ARod’s last few games were going to be nuts, but did the Yankees have to turn it into a circus?
