Andy Pettitte To Start Sunday For Yankees

The Yankees plan to add Andy Pettitte to their active roster and have him pitch on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners, general Brian Cashman said Tuesday.

Yankee fans have been waiting for Pettitte’s return ever since Jack Curry of YES Network broke the news, via twitter, that Andy Pettitte signed a one-year minor league deal with the Yankees.

The start will be the 39-year-old’s first big league outing since the 2010 American League Championship Series.

Cashman said that manager Joe Girardi and his coaches were in agreement that Pettitte could help the big league team after reviewing reports of his last start at Triple-A.

The southpaw went 11-3 with a 3.28 ERA in 2010. Pettitte has a career record of 240-138, including a 203-112 mark in 13 seasons with the Yankees.
