The road leading back to the Bronx continued tonight as Ivan Nova made his first official rehab start of the season in Tampa. This is the first game action Nova has seen since he last stepped on a mound for the Yankees in April last year.
Nova made it through 4 2/3 innings allowing three hits along with two runs, but only one was earned. In addition, he struck out three batters and did not give up a walk throughout his 72 pitch outing.
With Joe Girardi not leaning towards a six-man rotation upon Nova’s return, his journey continues and could make for some interesting roster moves when his time comes to rejoin the team.
