Pineda put on hold

In what has become a nightmare season for the Yankees, they received somewhat good news yesterday regarding Michael Pineda – who was pulled during a rehab start over the weekend with shoulder tightness.

Tests came back negative and no structural damage was found in the 24-year-old’s surgically repaired right shoulder. For now, he will be shut down for about a week to 10 days just to be careful.

Pineda has been recovering for the last year after undergoing surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder. After successfully completing a rehab assignment in July without any setbacks, he was optioned to Triple-A Scranton for more refinement. The Yankees have been limiting his innings, still trying to be careful with their future investment. A timetable has not been set for his Bronx debut.
