With a third of the 2015 season remaining, the New York Yankees sit atop the American League East with a 6.0 game lead over both the Baltimore Orioles and the Toronto Blue Jays. After a tough road trip, the last three-city road trip of the season, the Yankees come back home after going 6-4 the past 10 games. Over the past seven games, the offense has been explosive scoring 52 runs in four wins. That offense is being led by an unsung hero of late, Didi Gregorius. He is continuing to come into his own both offensively and defensively.
Gregorius has hit a team-high .480 over this stretch with one home run and 11 runs batted in. The 11 RBIs is the most on the team over the past seven games. The Yankees shortstop has also had a triple and scored seven times. After a miserable start to the season, Didi has really picked it up of late. He had three multi-hit games over the seven game span with two Β games having three or more hits. He is hitting .305 over the past 30 games and has risen his average up to .260. Gregorius finally looks comfortable manning shortstop for the Bronx Bombers. His hot hitting lengthens this lineup tremendously and gives the Yankees a formidable bottom of the order.
