BIG MIKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKE!
It was a busy week of baseball for the Yankees. They went 5-3 since the last time we recorded, including completing a sweep in Boston last weekend. Scott and I break down that Sunday night game including a potential rivalry-renewed between the Yanks and Sox.
The Yankees did drop their first series in a while by losing 2 of 3 in Toronto. The pen had a mini melt-down and CC still has yet to record a win. Scott and I discuss why CC has struggled so much this year, if it has become mental with him, and if the Yankees can keep running him out on the mound.
The team did bounce back when they returned home though, taking 3 of 4 from the Orioles. ARod hit 661 on Thursday (and could have had another if not for Delmon Young). We discuss the controversy with ARod passing Willie Mays — including rumors that the Yankees announcers were told how to react and the continuing drama between the team and Alex over the HR bonuses.
But the biggest news is that Michael Pineda has emerged as the Yankees ace this season. He’s 5-0 and currently leads the league in strike outs after his 16 K game Sunday. Every time out he gives the Yankees innings, something the rest of the staff has been unable to give them. Scott and I go 3 Up – 3 Down…but had to dig to find 3 negatives considering the team is 20-12.
We also got our first voicemail! (Shout-out to Tim in Denver). He called up asking about Pirela and if he should be in the starting lineup. It would be awesome if you guys could continue to call in and leave a voicemail. We will play them on the show and react. The number is 646-480-0342.
Tough stretch coming up for the team — 4 in Tampa and 3 in KC before they FINALLY have a much needed off day. Let’s keep the mustache rides rolling!
