Bern Baby Bern — The Bronx Pinstripes Show #16

Happy Memorial Day everyone! We’ve got day baseball this afternoon, the sun is shining, burgers on the grill, and the Yankees are….well, you know.

Its been a struggle the past two weeks for the Yankees. Mental and physical errors, bad pitching, and lack of clutch offense has caused them to lose 10 of their last 11 games. Scott and I did our best to go through the carnage and break things down.

After finally having an off day last Monday, the Yanks dropped their 2 games vs the Nats. The first loss was particularly tough because a lot of things went wrong and Ellsbury went down with a knee injury. Scott and I break down what went wrong for the Yankees in Washington.

The weekend series at home vs Texas did not get any better. Pineda was on the mound Friday with a chance to end their losing streak, but he had a melt-down. It was especially disconcerting that Big Mike seemed to quit on the team in the 7-run 3rd inning. If he’s going to be our ‘ace’, then he has to step it up…he’s too good not to.

The only bright spot fromย the weekend was that Bernie Williams’ # 51 was retired. Check out some of his career highlights and journey with the Yankees here.

Bernie’s # 51 was retired on Sunday night at Yankee Stadium.

Since we passed the quarter-season mark, we also graded each player on the team. We broke down their stats and gave them a letter grade, and did some over/under predictions for the remainder of the season.
