Robbie Cano, don’t ya know – The Bronx Pinstripes Show #45

This week we talk about the ongoing Brett Gardner trade rumors, David Ortiz’s retirement announcement and Twitter suggestions on what the Yankees should give him as a farewell gift, Derek Jeter’s appearance on Joe Buck’s new show, the Robinson Cano situation in Seattle, and responses to last week’s question of the week. New question of the week: If you were Joe Girardi, what would your plan be to keep ARod and Teixeira healthy next season?

This past week Brett Gardner was linked to more trade rumors, this time with the Cubs and Indians. Scott and I discuss if the Yankees would be smart in trading Gardy to those teams for guys like Starlin Castro, Danny Salazar, or Carlos Carrasco, and if the Yankees have to trade him at this point.

David Ortiz announced his retirement in a video on the Players’ Tribune. A year ago he criticized Jeter for going on a farewell tour and said that he would not do something like that, but it seems that Ortiz is going back on his word (shocker!). We asked people on Twitter what the Yankees should give him as a retirement gift and read the best ones on this week’s episode. Shout out to everyone who sent us suggestions.

We also discussed Jeter’s appearance on Joe Buck’s new show, and the ongoing Robbie Cano / Seattle situation.

Jeter sat down with Joe Buck and addressed some of the more well-known rumors of his career, including the gift basket and cell phone confiscation rumors.

Thanks to everybody who submitted responses to last week’s question of the week, which was what the Yankees number 1 move this offseason move should be. This week’s question of the week is: If you were Joe Girardi, what would your plan be to keep ARod and Teixeira healthy next season? That is going to be a huge task for Girardi next season, who needs Tex and ARod healthy down the stretch. Submit to the mailbag, voicemail, and social outlets.
