Free Agent Frenzy – The Bronx Pinstripes Show #47

The theme in baseball seems to be massive free agent contracts. This week we are joined by Rich Kaufman (@RAKcity27) to discuss the bank-breaking David Price and Zack Greinke deals. We also talk Giants vs Jets, Warriors win streak, Red Sox’s big off season moves, the Dodgers potential trade for Aroldis Chapman and what that means for Andrew Miller’s value, the Yankees second base situation, if the Yanks should trade top prospects for a top pitcher like Jose Fernandez, we rank the AL East teams as it currently stands, and try and project what Bryce Harper will get in free agency in 2019.

As the winter meetings heat up, we expect there to be lots of news in the next few days. We discuss the big free agents that are already off the board and what that means for the Yankees and the rest of baseball. We also evaluate the trade value of players like Andrew Miller and Brett Gardner, and what the Yankees plan should be going into 2016 and beyond.

This week we posted five questions. We discuss these at the 51 minute mark.

  1. Would you trade elite prospects for a pitcher like Sale, Fernandez, Gray, Miller, etc?
  2. As it stands now, rank the teams in the AL East 1 through 5.
  3. With all the record-setting MLB contracts, what will Bryce Harper get in 2019?
  4. There are two undefeated teams in sports right now (Warriors and Panthers). Which is more likely: Panthers go 16-0 or Warriors beat Lakers’ 33 game win streak?
  5. Papelbon field a grievance against Nationals for not paying him during his suspension. He is one of worst guys in sports. Who are your top 3 biggest jerks in sports?
