Kicking Off 2016 – The Bronx Pinstripes Show #51

Happy New Year! Justin McElrath (@jtmac21) joined us this week for the first episode of 2016. Topics include the Jets collapse, Johnny Football partying and desire to play in Dallas, and the Black Monday NFL firings. We also pick Wild Card Weekend playoff games. Baseball talk starts at 18:53; we give our 2016 MLB Hall of Fame ballot; Justin and I attempt to defend the steroid-era guys while Scott is a firm believer in the eye test. Its been 1 week since the Arolids Chapman trade, so we give our thoughts after thinking about the trade some more, the possibility of trading Ivan Nova, and the Yankees’ starting rotation holes.

MLB Hall of Fame ballot discussion (18:53 minute mark). We each give our 2016 HoF ballots; Scott is not letting in any of the steroid-tainted guys while Justin and I are more accepting of the times. We also talk about if Mike Mussina will ever make it into the hall. Justin will be posting a MLB Hall of Fame ballot article this week where he polled each of the Bronx Pinstripes writers, so keep an eye out for that.

Scott’s ballot: Edgar Martinez, Ken Griffey Jr, Tim Raines, Curt Schilling

Justin’s ballot: Barry Bonds, Edgar Martinez, Jeff Bagwell, Ken Griffey Jr, Mark McGwire, Mike Piazza, Roger Clemens

Andrew’s ballot: Mike Piazza, Curt Schilling, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, Ken Griffey Jr, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Trevor Hoffman

NFL Wild Card weekend picks (10:40 minute mark). Next week we’ll revisit how we did, and pick the following weekend’s games.

Scott’s picks: Texans over Chiefs, Bengals over Steelers, Seahawks over Vikings, Redskins over Packers

Justin’s picks: Texans over Chiefs, Bengals over Steelers, Seahawks over Vikings, Redskins over Packers

Andrew’s picks: Chiefs over Texans, Steelers over Bengals, Seahawks over Vikings, Redskins over Packers
