Yankees Team Awards & Rivalry Week – The Bronx Pinstripes Show #40

We have a packed episode this week, including: NFL week 6 action, the worst play in football history, the bat flip heard round the world, Back to the Future day, Daniel ‘Reggie Jackson’ Murphy, David Price and Johnny Cueto’s declining value, and 2015 Yankees team awards. We also talk about the free agent pitchers on the market and if the Yankees will target any of them. Since its NFL season, we play Monday Morning Quarterback with a Cashman free agent decision. Also a NY/Boston rivalry is renewed: its Jets vs Patriots week.

The MLB playoffs continue to be exciting, despite the Yankees’ early exit. The Mets are rolling and have captivated New York. Unfortunately, I think the Mets pitching is too deep to blow a 2-0 lead, but then again crazier things have happened. We also discuss Daniel Murphy, Curtis Granderson, and why Kevin Long is having success in Queens. It seems like the AL is playing in the NL shadow this October. At least the Royals are doing their part. We talk about the Blue Jays offense, their GM’s decision to trade for RA Dickey, and what is wrong with David Price.

We discuss Yankees towards the end of this episode and hand out team awards: MVP, Cy Young, Goat, Rookie of the Year, and Player to Look Forward to Most. The rookies really made an impact this season and we are looking for them to take the next step in 2016. Young, homegrown talent is what the Yanks have lacked the last few years and might be a reason the Mets have more buzz in the city.

We spend a  good portion of this episode previewing Patriots vs Jets and the Boston/NY rivalry between those teams. Scott is a Jets fan and I’m a Pats fan, so this should be a fun winter assuming the Jets remain relevant.
