Yankees Twitter Reacts (Mar. 30 – Apr. 4)

Welcome back to Yankees Twitter Reacts, my column filled with the best and worst takes, funniest tweets, reactions to Yankees news, and everything in between from our beloved Yankees Twitter. I want this to be as fan interactive as possible, so remember to hashtag #BPYankeesTwitter or tag me at @T_Danks_to join the conversation and submit the best and worst tweets of the week!

It’s safe to say that vibes on Yankees Twitter were much different this past week than they were on Opening Day. Excessive injuries and early season overreactions headline this week’s edition of Yankees Twitter Reacts.

Check out last week’s breakdown in case you missed it.

NEWS OF THE WEEK – EVERYONE IS HURT

Here’s the news: Everyone is hurt. We knew going into the season that the Yankees would be without Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks, Luis Severino, and CC Sabathia (at least for the beginning). But after just one week of baseball, Miguel Andujar, Giancarlo Stanton, and Troy Tulowitzki will also be joining them on the Injured List. This has unleashed a panic among Yankees Twitter.

MOMENT OF THE WEEK – GLEYBER TORRES’ GO-AHEAD THREE-RUN HOMER

Last season, Gleyber Torres had seven three-run home runs. His first of 2019 could not have come at a bigger time.

On Thursday, the Yanks were down 4-2 to the Orioles and were in the midst of another sloppy, frustrating game. Enter Gleyber. With two outs and men on the corners in the top of the sixth, Gleyber ripped his second homer of the day, which ultimately won the game for the Yanks. It was EXACTLY what the team needed.

Yankees Twitter went NUTS for this home run. Here are some of the best reactions:

WORST TAKE OF THE WEEK

We can all agree that the start of the season could have gone better. The injuries are piling up and the Yankees dropped consecutive series’ to the Orioles and the Tigers. But here’s a PSA: we are seven games deep of a 162 game season. Seven! That’s 4.3% of the season – so the season is actually VERY far from over. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day mess, but we have to remind ourselves that there is a lot of baseball left to play – and hopefully a majority of it will be played with the Yanks best lineup. Keep the faith!

BEST TAKE OF THE WEEK

This right here is a double best take of the week. First, despite being a Red Sox reporter, you have to respect what Carrabis said. For us day-to-day, pitch-by-pitch fans, it’s so easy to freak out and completely lose our composure when things aren’t going well (see: Worst Take of the Week). However, like David says, while the season is far from over, losing series’ to the O’s and Tigers is really really really bad, and it will matter when looking at the big picture.
