Yanks will play exhibition game at West Point

Before the season begins with the Red Sox on April 1 at the big ballpark in the Bronx, the Yankees will play an exhibition game at the United States Miitary Academy in West Point N.Y.

Major League Baseball announced the Yankees and Army will play  a 2 p.m. ET contest on March 30; no other details have been released yet.

According to Yanks beat writer Bryan Hoch, the Yankees also traveled to West Point for exhibition games back when Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth were still playing. Yankee Stadium, of course, has been the host of multiple Army Football games, so the relationship between the two American institutions is long and distinguished.

A day before they head to West Point, the Yanks will get a good look at Rafael Soriano in a Nationals uniform, as they play the Nats in D.C. for a preseason tuneup.

About Rich Kaufman

Ever since my parents bought me a Paul O'Neill shirt at my first Yankees game back in 1994 I've been a diehard fan. Couple that with the fact I recently graduated from Springfield College with a degree in sports journalism, and writing about baseball especially the Yankees has become a passion of mine. Growing up and still living about 45 minutes north of the Stadium makes being a Yankee fan that much more special and exciting for me. For some Yankees talk follow me on Twitter @RAKcity27
