Aaron Judge puts on power display

There really is nothing like the crack of a bat when it meets a baseball.

Aaron Judge made sure everyone heard him take batting practice today at George M. Steinbrenner Field. He sprayed line drives all over the place and added a few homers as well, the longest of which cleared the large scoreboard in left-center field:

At 6-foot-7, 275 pounds, Judge represents an imposing presence at the plate. It’s hard to believe that a guy his size can play baseball at a high level, but it only speaks to his freak athletic ability.

This year is huge for Judge’s development since he struggled last season after getting promoted to Triple-A. Pitchers regularly fooled him on off-speed/breaking stuff, so he worked on his patience and pitch recognition this offseason.

Right-handed power is hard to come by in the game today, so it appears the Yankees have a special prospect on their hands. Many project Judge to take over the right field duties in the Bronx in 2017, but it will ultimately come down to his performance.

When you have Alex Rodriguez and the rest of the team talking, though, you’re on your way:
