Spring training dates announced for the Yankees

Ready for baseball again? On February 19th, pitchers and catchers will report to Tampa, and March 2nd begins the Yankees spring training schedule of exhibition games. Not like any of us at BP are counting, but that’s 110 days until the Yankees suit up for more baseball.

The 2016 Yankees will surely have new faces, as Brian Cashman has already been active, acquiring Aaron Hicks from the Twins and Ronald Herrera from the Padres. Expect more familiar faces to be moved around, such as Brett Gardner. As far as acquisitions go, some big names have emerged, including pitchers David Price and Wei-Yin Chen.

The most exciting thing to look forward to is seeing the young studs get some valuable reps. Greg Bird, Rob Refsnyder, and Aaron Judge will be fighting for a spot on the 25 man roster (even though they clearly earned their spots already). Not to mention pitcher Luis Severino looks to impress us yet again.

But hey, a lot will happen in the next three months. Who knows what the roster could potentially look like? It will be a long winter, but it will lead to what promises to be an exciting spring. It’s only three months. Well actually, 110 days, but again, who’s counting?
