St. Louis Cardinals 0 — New York Yankees 2
Kevin Youkilis had a good game in today’s 2-o win over the St. Louis Cardinals.
The former Red Sox third baseman now in Yankees pinstripes drove in his first run as a Yankee today. Youkilis hit a solo home run in the 4th inning off of the scoreboard in left field, his first of the Spring. He would bring in the second run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the 6th inning. The next runs came in on more of the Cardinals faults than the Yankees offense. A pair of singles and a walk would load the bases. Matt Diaz would get hit by a pitch to bring in a run. Zoilo Almonte would get walked and another run would score to increase the lead to four.
Hiroki Kuroda started today’s game and did a great job. In four innings, Kuroda only gave up three hits while striking out six. Joba Chamberlain and David Robertson each pitched a scoreless inning. Dellin Betances pitched a scoreless inning. Shawn Kelley continues competing for a spot in the Yankees bullpen with a perfect inning of baseball with a strikeout.
Win – Hiroki Kuroda
Loss – Lance Lynn
