Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. The Yanks brought out the Bomb Squad on Memorial Day. In the first frame, Chase Headley started the Gas-House Gorillas conga line. Headley’s two-run tater off Jeremy Guthrie, made it 2-0 Yankees. It was Headley’s sixth of the season, 14th as a Yankee and 99th of his career.

Also in the first, Brian McCann added a wall scraper to right, for a three-run shot off Guthrie. McCann’s fifth home run of the campaign, 28th as a Yankee and 204th of his career, increased the Yanks lead to 5-0.

Capping off the outburst in the first was Brett Gardner. Gardner lined a three-run smash to right off Guthrie. For Gardner it was his 700th career hit and the 44th homer of his Yankee career. From there it was a touchdown and a two-point conversion, an 8-0 lead through one.

An inning later, Stephen Drew smoked a three-run round tripper off Guthrie. The long ball was Drew’s fifth of the season, eighth as a Yankee and the 102nd of his career. The “field goal” increased the Bombers advantage to 11-0.

The Yanks last homer was the first homer in the young career of Slade Heathcott. A two-run laser to right, off Greg Holland in the seventh, topped of the Yankees scoring and it was 14-1.

On the campaign, the Bronx Bombers have 57 home runs.
