Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. First it was the old guard, then it was the new guard, getting the job done for the Bronx Bombers. A four-run ninth made for a 4-1 Yankees victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
After Alex Rodriguez doubled home Brett Gardner to tie the game at one, Brian McCann was given a free pass and Slade Heathcott came through big time. In his first at bat since May, Heathcott smoked the first pitch he saw from Brad Boxberger, sending a go-ahead, three-run homer to left. It was Heathcott’s second of the season, giving the Yankees a 4-1 lead.
