Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. It was a cruel game of playing catch up Friday night. The Yanks offense valiantly attempted to dig out from a 7-0 deficit but couldn’t quite lasso the Texas Rangers, falling 10-9. On the plus side, there were a couple of first bomb pops and another adding to his impressive total.
Trailing 7-1 in the fourth, Didi Gregorius atoned for an earlier error, socking a three-run home run to right, on a 1-0 slider from Colby Lewis. It was Gregorius’ first as a Yankee, first on the season and home run number 14 on his career. The round tripper pulled the Yanks within 7-4.
Didi goes de-deep! A 3-run HR to RF for the #Yankees SS, his first in pinstripes, has made this a 7-4 game in the 4th! #YANKSonYES

Moving to the eighth with the Pinstripes behind 10-5, pinch hitter Garrett Jones hit a classic Yankee Stadium home run, parking one on the porch with a three-run tater. So Jones, like Gregorius, hopped on the board for 2015, with his first as a Yankee and 118th of his career. The long ball coming on a 1-2 pitch from Tanner Scheppers, made it a 10-8 contest.
An inning later, with the Yanks last licks in the ninth, Mark Teixeira clocked a solo shot off ex-Yankee Ross Ohlendorf, a 2-1 fastball, inching New York to within one. For Teixeira, it was his 13th homer of the season, 173rd as a Yankee and the 376th of his career.
