Bronx Bombers home run alert boomsticks and broomsticks

Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. The Yanks finish off a sweep of the Boston Red Sox, winning 8-5 and are now 16-2 when holding a lead this season. On the evening, the Bronx Bombers book ended their scoring with home runs from Mark Teixeira and Brett Gardner.

New York now has 33 home runs on the campaign, fourth best in baseball and second in the AL.

Teixeira went opposite field and banged one over the Green Monster, off Joe Kelly, giving the Yanks a 2-0 lead in the first frame. It was Teixeira’s ninth of the season, 169th as a Yankee and 372nd of his career.

Gardner’s smash proved to be the deciding home run. His second home run of the year and first since Opening Day, a three-run jolt to right, off Craig Breslow, staked the Yankees to an 8-0 advantage in the sixth. Gardner now has 42 home runs in his Yankee career.
