Bronx Bombers home run alert: most in baseball

Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. In game two of their series at the Detroit Tigers, two home runs and more specifically, five runs, helped the Yanks to a 5-2 victory. Chris Young and Stephen Drew struck with some seventh inning thunder and lightning in the rainy Motor City.

Young is to Carlos Beltran, as Nick Swisher was to Xavier Nady, circa 2009? Hitting against Ian Krol, Young went yard to left with a solo shot, his fourth of the season.

Later in the frame, Drew cracked a homer to right, off Krol. It was also Drew’s fourth home run of the season or as many as Derek Jeter had in all of 2014 (no I’m not comparing Drew to Jeter, calm down folks).

Assuming no one else just went yard in that 16-10 affair between the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers, your New York Yankees lead all of MLB with 20 home runs.
