Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. Run. Fight. Hit. Score. Downpour. Score more. Go Yanks go! That’s the theme song, right? Backed by a superb outing by CC Sabathia and a pair of home runs by Chase Headley and Alex Rodriguez, the Bronx Bombers brought the thunder and lightning in a 5-1 victory against the Kansas City Royals.
Breaking open a 1-1 contest in the fifth, Headley went big fly in flyover country. Headley busted a three-run home run to left, staking the Yanks to a 4-1 advantage. For Headley, the three-run thump was his fifth of the season, eleventh as a Yankee and 98th of his career.
Jumping to the ninth, A-Rod touched double digits with an opposite field, solo shot to right. Making the score 5-1, A-Rod’s tenth home run of the season, was also his 319th as Yankee and 664 on his career. It also marks 18 seasons of double digit home runs for A-Rod.
On the campaign, the Bronx Bombers have walloped 46 round trippers.
