According to Yankees beat writer Erik Boland, the Yankees have signed first baseman Lyle Overbay to a minor league deal. The 36-year-old left-handed batter has spent 12 years in the major leagues with five different teams.
Overbay was released by the Boston Red Sox earlier this morning before joining the Yankees. Last season, he spent time with the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves, putting together .259/.331/.397 with two home runs and 10 runs batted in.
