Following the game, the Yankees acquired shortstop Brendan Ryan from the Seattle Mariners for a player to be named later.

While Brendan Ryan is not known for any offensive contribution, with a .192 average three home runs and 21 RBI, he is known for his exceptional defense. He has a career fielding percentage of .978 at shortstop.

This acquisition can provide more reliable defense in place of Eduardo Nunez, who made one error on the scoreboard tonight. Nunez has 12 errors this season. It is unclear what this means for the status of Derek Jeter.

The Yankees hitting coach may find the “Hidden Hitter” in Brendan, he is too good a fielder to not be able to hit. A lot of Mariners hitters have left Seattle, and then started hitting like there is no tomorrow, a/k/a the Texas 3rd baseman, sorry he dogged it so much in Seattle I refuse to say Adrian Beltre. Check around MLB and you will find them.
