Unfortunately, the event is still scheduled for a Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. It will take place at Cooperstown’s Clark Sports Center. As you well know by now, the ceremony will celebrate the induction of Class of 2020 members Derek Jeter, Marvin Miller, Ted Simmons, and Larry Walker. In addition to the in-person option, the ceremony will be broadcast live on MLB Network.

During the last induction ceremony in 2019, when legendary New York Yankees closer Marino Rivera was inducted unaniMOusly, approximately 55,000 people attended, which was good enough for the second-largest crowd on record.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic (which is still going on, by the way, so please get vaccinated if you can but haven’t already), there was no ceremony in Cooperstown in 2020 for the first time since 1960.

Additionally, the HOF’s annual awards presentation will still be an indoor, TV-only event, on Saturday, July 24. During that awards presentation the HOF will honor 2021 Ford C. Frick Award winner for broadcasting excellence, Al Michaels, and the 2020 Frick Award winner, Ken Harrelson; the 2021 Baseball Writers’ Association of America Career Excellence Award winner, Dick Kaegel, and the 2020 BBWAA Career Excellence Award winner, Nick Cafardo; and the 2020 Buck O’Neil Lifetime Achievement Award winner, David Montgomery.
