The New York Yankees are closing in on Chicago Cubs’ first baseman Anthony Rizzo!
The New York Yankees are finalizing a deal to acquire first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the Chicago Cubs, sources tell ESPN. First on the scene was @JackCurryYES.
In the last 24 hours, the Yankees have gotten Joey Gallo and Anthony Rizzo, two high-OBP lefties. Big moves in Bronx.

Rizzo, who is in his final year under contract in Chicago would add another left-handed bat to the middle of the Yankees lineup. Despite currently sitting in third place, the Yankees are clearly making a push to clinch a playoff spot. As the Washington Nationals proved a few years ago, any team is capable of winning the World Series and the Yankees are making sure they have the talent in place.
The Yankees are sending prospects Kevin Alcantara and Alexander Vizcaino to Chicago. The Cubs will pay the remainder of Rizzo’s contract.
No word yet on what the future will hold for Luke Voit. Unfortunately, Voit has missed most of the season after leading the league in home runs. If he is not included in the deal with Chicago, rumors have it that he may be flipped for pitching.
