The Yankees achieved a feat that they didn’t accomplish since June 19, 2001; they left zero on base. Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, and Russell Martin helped this with the long ball. Granderson & Rodriguez provided solo home runs while Teixeira & Martin hit two-run home runs to account for 6 of the 7 runs.
A.J. Burnett didn’t have an outstanding start to the game as the first four runners reached base.
The home run has been a staple of the Yankees offense & I’m still going to be concerned when we cannot score via the long ball, will we score? It will be a challenge considering our average with runners in scoring position but a win is a win and tomorrow afternoon is the rubber match of the Subway Series.
