Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 7 — New York Yankees 1
C.J. Wilson and the offensive support in the form of three home runs put the 4-game win streak to an end in today’s 7-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
Phil Hughes was chased from the ballgame after just 3.1 innings. Home runs by Chris Iannetta and Howie Kendrick were a part of the 8 hits and 6 runs surrendered by Hughes. David Phelps came in for relief and had a much stronger outing than Hughes as he went 5.1 innings while surrendering just one run on a solo home run by Vernon Wells.
The Yankees offense struggled against the lefty of the Angels as they only got one run off of him in 6 innings of work and could not manage to make a dent in the difference against three of the Angels relievers.
