Yankees game 23 preview (5/01/15)
The Yanks continue their AL East gauntlet with CC Sabathia (0-4, 5.96 ERA) taking on Justin Masterson (2-0, 5.16 ERA) in game one at Fenway. Sabathia is still looking for his first 2015 win. He has not received a W since April 24, 2014, his current six start losing streak is the longest of his career. The big man seemed to be improving with each start, but his last time out against the Mets was a huge step backwards. He lasted five innings giving up seven runs on nine hits, three of them left the yard.
Masterson held the Orioles to three runs over seven innings for his second quality start in four outings. He has shown better command this year after struggling in 2014. He is no stranger to the Yankees, owning a 3.94 ERA in 13 career appearances (nine starts) against them. The last time he faced them was when he was with Cleveland. He gave up five runs over just two innings.
Tidbits:
The Red Sox took two of three from the Yanks in their last meeting.
Sabathia is 11-12 with a 4.68 ERA over 29 career starts against Boston.
