Report: Arenado situation ‘could get ugly’

The hot stove has been considerably cool since the flurry of the winter meetings. Monday night, we got an interesting tidbit on Nolan Arenado.

According to an MLB.com report, Arenado was quoted as saying, “There’s a lot of disrespect from people there that I don’t want to be a part of. You can quote that.”

It’s clear that Arenado is hurt by the Rockies shopping him this off-season, and he obviously wants out.

I recently mentioned on Georges Box that the Yankees should be all over this. Brian Cashman doesn’t shop for need, he shops for value. The Yankees don’t necessarily have a hole at third base. However they didn’t have a hole in right field when they acquired Giancarlo Stanton back in 2017.

For what it’s worth, Jeff Passan mentioned that “this has a chance to get very ugly” and that it’s “beginning to resemble the Giancarlo Stanton mess in Miami.”

We all know how that turned out.
