Last night Clint Frazier decided to hop on Twitch to play some Call of Duty with Giants QB Daniel Jones. Young athletes doing something like this instead of being spotted out in a nightclub is always good, but it’s even better when they do something entertaining. Last night Clint delivered by taking a shot at the Astros and the garbage can banging controversy.
During this whole investigation, we haven’t heard a ton from other players, besides a tweet from Judge and Sevy. Clint wasn’t on the 2017 playoff roster, but the Astros cheating in the 2017 ALCS did have a direct impact on Clint, so I have no problem with him taking this shot.
How did it impact Clint? Great question.
In an alternate reality, the Yankees win the 2017 World Series because the Astros lose at home, even once. As a member of the 2017 team, Clint is now considered a World Series champion. With Jacoby Ellsbury falling off the face of the earth, a roster spot opens up for 2018. Being the defending World Champions, there is no pressure to go out and get Giancarlo Stanton, and Clint gets more of a shot when he gets back from a concussion in May 2018. There is no promise that concussion symptoms and defensive woes disappear, but the Astros sure as shit didn’t make it easier for him to stick in the big leagues.
