Could the Yankees be gearing up to call the Reds about a starting pitcher? To stop you right there, Sonny Gray is not the guy.
@yankees targeting Luis Castillo of Reds I'm hearing. 26, under control thru 2023, breakout year, it will take young talent plus to get him. They have that. Comes down to their evaluation and what else falls thru or doesn't.

Chris Moore of CBS Radio Sports Network/WFAN is suggesting that the team is interested inΒ Luis Castillo. The 26-year-old is breaking out in his third big league season, posting a 7-2 record through 16 starts, with a 2.56 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 109 strikeouts.
With a team-friendly contract control through 2023, the intrigue is certainly there, but could prove costly. While the Yankees have the potential trade chips, you have to consider it may take a haul for the Reds to part ways with a pitcher who at the moment could be considered to be in the top three favorites for the National League Cy Young Award.
