A Nick Swisher reunion
With Greg Bird sidelined in 2016 from a torn labrum, the New York Yankees could use some depth. That depth could come the form of an old friend. In 2009, the Yanks bought low on Nick Swisher and reaped the dividends and might benefit again from buying low.
The Atlanta Braves are in rebuild mode and looking forward to contending with a new stadium. Swisher isn't expected to start and is in the final year of his contract. Although Swisher had an injury plagued 2014 and only hit .196 with six home runs between Cleveland and Atlanta in 2015, his best numbers came in the Bronx.
Swisher was a member of the 2009 title team and was an American League All-Star in 2010. With Swisher, the Yankees would be getting a solid clubhouse guy, fan favorite, high on base player and the versatility of playing first base and outfield. As brittle as the Yanks outfield and first base situation is, a Swisher reunion may be a cost effective option.
