Aaron Judge: Giancarlo Stanton will be 'a great fit' for New York
Back in 1961, the Yankees' outfield duo of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris -- known as the "M&M Boys" -- hit a monumentous 115 home runs combined in the regular season, en route to the franchise's 19th World Series title. In 2018, the Yankees' outfield duo of Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton could break that record. After all, they were only four homers shy of 115 this past season. As a result of Monday's blockbuster trade between New York and the Miami Marlins, the reigning National League MVP in Stanton wil hit alongside the American League Rookie of the Year and MVP runner-up in Judge in the Bronx next spring -- a move that has helped make the Yankees a favorite to win the Fall Classic. "We’ve had a lot of acquisitions this offseason and I don’t think we’re done yet," Judge told the Associated Press at a Warriors-Mavericks NBA game on Thursday night. "We’re just adding not only great players but quality guys as well. I’ve gotten a chance to speak with Stanton. I saw him at the All-Star Game and Home Run Derby. We’ve all seen what he does on the field but the kind of person he is and the value he will bring to this clubhouse, I’m looking forward to that. I’m excited for 2018. It’s going to be a fun year. "He’s an MVP. You can learn a lot from a guy like that, just kind of watching how he goes through his normal routine. I’m just looking forward to being around him. He’ll blend right into this team. We’ve got a good chemistry in the clubhouse. He’s going to be a great fit for New York." Both Stanton and Judge led the majors in home runs last season. Stanton, who hit 59, also drove in 132 runs, while Judge smacked 52 and drove in 114.
