Aaron Judge to compete in Triple-A Home Run Derby

Yankees number three prospect Aaron Judge will compete in this season's Triple-A Home Run Derby on Monday, July 11 at BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, NC.

The outfielder will display his raw power against five other minor league prospects including two former Yankee farmhands Jesus Montero and Rob Segedin. Chris Marrero of the International League, Kyle Jensen and Travis Taijeron of the Pacific Coast League will join Judge, Montero and Segedin in the competition. Judge, the youngest player participating in the Home Run Derby, has been heating up of late. He was just named the International League Player of the Month for June as he batted .343 with nine of his 16 home runs. The 24-year-old scored 30 runs and drove in 25 during the month. On the year, Judge is hitting .270/.361/.484 with 16 home runs and 53 RBIs. The only against Judge right now is his 82 strikeouts in 79 games while only walking 38 times. However, those numbers have improved recently. His hot hitting of late is making the Yankees decision to not bring him up soon very difficult. There has been a lot of consideration to bring the young slugger up but Brian Cashman has refuted any possibility as of now. If Judge continues his strong display at the plate, Cashman and the Yankees will have no choice but to call him up to the big leagues.
