Are the Giants looking to reunite with Carlos Beltran?
Are the San Francisco Giants looking to reunite with Carlos Beltran? According to sources of New York Post columnist Kevin Kernan, the Giants "still love Beltran." It would make sense for the Giants to be in the market for an outfielder with Hunter Pence sidelined with a hamstring injury. Beltran played part of one season in San Francisco as the Giants acquired him from the New York Mets in a 2011 at the trade deadline - the deal that brought Zack Wheeler to New York. In 44 games with the Giants, Beltran hit .323 with seven home-runs and 18 RBI. The Giants did not make the postseason that year. Fast forward to 2016, an even-year nonetheless. The Giants have to be all in, right? They have won the last three even-year World Series championships. Beltran has been the most consistent and productive hitter in the Yankees lineup this season. He is hitting .283/.316/.567 with 18 home-runs and 48 RBI. He's also proven in the postseason, leading all active players in on-base percentage (.441) and slugging (.567). He is motivated, feeling good and looking to play another couple of years but is a free agent after this season. Couple the reduced odds of a Yankees run in October with his current trade value - it makes dealing him a no-brainer.
