Winter Meetings: Ben Zobrist decision expected soon
The winter meetings are in full swing with rumors flying everywhere from Jose Fernandez to Shelby Miller to Jason Heyward. One prized free agent hitter is expected to come to a decision sometime this week, before the meetings conclude. Utility man Ben Zobrist is the type of player every team would like to have. he can play almost anywhere on the field, is a switch-hitter and is a great clubhouse presence. The 35-year-old has a couple teams vying for his service, primarily the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals. There are conflicting reports out of Nashville, where the winter meetings are being held. Bob Nightengale of USA Today has said that Zobrist has an offer of four years and $80 million from an unspecified team.
Ben Zobrist has a four-year, $80 million offer on the table. The #Mets still considered favorites to ultimately land him.

However, Chris Cotillo of MLB DailyDish and Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports are Tweeting that Nightengale's report is in fact false. They believe Zobrist is looking for a four year deal worth somewhere around $60 million.
