BP Fantasy Top 10: third base
Playing fantasy baseball this season? Well you're in luck because here are the Top Ten Third Basemen that could swing your entire league in 2016.
Josh Donaldson, Tor: As a Yankee fan, I am not afraid to say I am a huge fan of Donaldson. When the Jays made the deal with Oakland to swap Donaldson for Brett Lawrie, it was a huge win for the Jays. He quickly became one of the most dominant hitters in baseball, in what has turned into the most explosive offense in the game. His numbers last season were phenomenal, earning him the AL MVP award. 2016 looks as if it will be another great year for the slugger and is deserving of a top five pick in all drafts.
Manny Machado, Bal: Another strong third baseman in the American League East is the young stud Machado. There really is nothing this guy cannot do, including showing a flare for the dramatic ‘Web Gems’ at the hot corner. As mentioned in our Top Ten list for first basemen, the park in Baltimore is extremely generous to batters and Machado gets the gift of playing 81 games there. I wouldn’t be surprised to see an uptick from his numbers last year, which is why he is ranked second on this list.
Nolan Arenado, Col: Talking about hitter friendly parks, there isn’t a better place to play your home games than Coors Field. Arenado exploded onto the scene last year smacking 42 homers with 130 RBI. He did this even with Troy Tulowitzki being traded, and Carlos Gonzalez being injured part of the season. As we’re beginning to see, the third base position is fairly top heavy with some of the league’s best offensive guys. Make sure you nab one before time runs out.
