Brandon Drury optioned to Scranton

Heading into today's action, it was well-known that the Yankees would have to make a roster move after the completion of game one. However, the Bronx Bombers made a rather surprising decision.

Following Game 1 of today’s doubleheader, the Yankees made the following roster moves:

Shortly after a tough 5-4 loss against the Baltimore Orioles, the Yankees announced that Brandon Drury was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In a corresponding move, the Yankees called up Luis Cessa to start game two of their doubleheader. The move is rather shocking, considering that Drury has only appeared in seven games since his call-up. The utility man has struggled offensively, picking up just three hits in 22 plate appearances. This was definitely a tough decision for the Yankees, especially for manager Aaron Boone. Hear what the Yankees skipper had to say about Drury's demotion here:
