Bronx Bombers home run alert

Keeping tabs on every home run for the New York Yankees this season. Well, this game was the answer to the question of how a team can hit four home runs and still lose. Unfortunately, despite getting homers from Garrett Jones, Brett Gardner, Chase Headley and Alex Rodriguez, the Yanks fell to the Reading Philadelphia Phillies, 11-6.

During the second inning, Jones swatted a solo shot to right, off Sean O'Sullivan. Jones' fourth of the season, doubled the New York advantage to 2-0.

An inning later, Gardner upped the Yanks output with his second home run in as many contests. Gardner's home run to right, against O'Sullivan, was his ninth of the year and gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead.

Then in the sixth, with the Pinstripes down 6-3, they clocked consecutive home runs to inch closer. Providing the clout were Headley and Rodriguez.

Headley's home run to right-center, off O'Sullivan, was his seventh of the season and closed the gap to 6-4.

The ensuing batter A-Rod, drove a solo shot of his own to left, off O'Sullivan. Home run number 15 from A-Rod, pulled the Yankees within one, at 6-5.

The Bronx Bombers have 98 home runs, second most in MLB.
