Yankees Make Improvements - The Bronx Pinstripes Show #73
The Yankees showed signs of coming out of their team-wide slump this week, which is encouraging. BP Show 73 topics: what injuries to ARod, CC and Ellsbury means for the Yankees, how ARod spends his time while on the DL, Ben Gamel's hair, Refsnyder now playing the outfield in Scranton, Chase Headley's historically bad season, when Teixeira will break-out of his slump, Eovaldi becoming more consistent, mismanagement in Baltimore, Ortiz and Farrell flipping out on Friday, and the Yankees dominance of David Price. Mailbag's include many rants about the Yankees losing streak, trading for a third baseman, if the team will be sellers at the trade deadline, why the Yanks need a veteran to step up as the team leader, and our use of the word "we" when talking about the Yankees. Mark Teixeira's struggles this season have gone under the radar because the offense has been so bad overall and Chase Headley is having a historically terrible season. But Tex only has 4 extra base hits, and two of those came during the first week of the season. Teixeira is always hitting in the middle of the lineup and his lack of production is a real drain. I have said he's the "x-factor" time and time again, but that goes both ways. When he's not hitting the offense is lame. If he turns it around I think the rest of the team can follow. With ARod out for a bit, Tex needs to step up. Submit mailbag questions here. Call the voicemail line: 646-480-0342. Hit us up on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Check us out in iTunes.
