Mitchell was called up prior to Sunday's doubleheader against the Boston Red Sox, and was scheduled to start the first game. After Saturday's 16-inning contest, the club elected to start CC Sabathia instead, keeping Mitchell available in the bullpen as a long reliever. The 26-year-old has pitched as a starter for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. In nine starts, Mitchell has posted a 2-2 record with a 3.60 ERA. In his time in the big leagues this season, Mitchell has made all his appearances as a reliever. The right-hander has a 1-1 record with a 5.06 ERA in 16 innings of work. With the news that Michael Pineda is out for the season, the Yankees have a hole in their rotation that they need to fill. If Mitchell pitches well, it's possible that the 26-year-old could find a role on the big league roster for the remainder of the season. The Bronx Bombers are set to continue their 11-game road trip against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Monday's first pitch is scheduled for 8:10 EST.
