Cashman comments on manager search, ARod, Ohtani
The devil is in the details. Looking downright devilish and clad in a New Jersey Devils hoodie, New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman had some interesting comments on the managerial search, Alex Rodriguez, and Shohei Ohtani.
The managerial search is closed and down to six final candidates to replace Joe Girardi. Hensley Meulens, Aaron Boone, Carlos Beltran, Rob Thomson, Chris Woodward and Eric Wedge are among the six finalists interviewed by Cashman. The Yankees general manager will submit his recommendation from this pool of candidates to owner Hal Steinbrenner.
Addressing the Search
There will be no additional candidates interviewed, nor will there be a second round of interviews conducted with any of the aforementioned candidates. The Yankees GM says the organization "learned a lot" from the process and "every person in that room earned the right to be there."

Consulting ARod
Cashman also noted how he reached out to Rodriguez and picked the brain of the former Yankee third baseman. The two engaged in conversation on the managerial search, with Cashman noting, "Alex knows baseball as well as anybody." As far as the manager position itself, the GM says Rodriguez, "never expressed interest in any way, shape or form in it."

Thoughts on Ohtani
The Yankees general manager commented on newly posted Japanese free agent superstar. Cashman called Ohtani a, "dynamic, unique player, who can play both sides of the ball and an exciting talent." The organization appears to be high on Ohtani, scouting him all the way back to 2012. As recently as this past August, the Yankees general manager traveled to Japan to watch Ohtani pitch. When asked if the versatile Ohtani would be allowed to both pitch and bat, Cashman said, "yes."
