CC Sabathia checks into alcohol rehabilitation center
As the New York Yankees are set to play in the American League Wild Card one-game playoff on Tuesday night, the team received bad news that will definitely hurt their postseason roster.
CC Sabathia just issued a statement saying that he's checking himself into an alcohol rehabilitation center to "treat my disease."

As beat writer Sweeny Murti first reported on WFAN, starting pitcher CC Sabathia announced that he will be checking into a alcohol rehabilitation center. Sabathia will not be with the team for the 2015 postseason, as his rehab will most likely last for at least a month, ending any hope of him rejoining the team this season. Sabathia hopes that he will be back with the team at the start of the 2016 season. As the team is set to start their playoff run, this comes at a bad time for both Sabathia and the Yankees, but Sabathia says he took steps to "receive the professional care assistance needed to treat my disease." It was likely that Sabathia was going to have a spot on the playoff roster, but he needed to take care of this off-the-field issue first. On Monday afternoon, the Yankees organization released this statement from Sabathia:
The former first-round pick has dealt with injury problems over the past few seasons, as he clearly wasn't the same pitcher that he was when he first arrived in the Bronx. During the 2015 campaign, Sabathia posted a 6-10 record with a 4.73 ERA in 29 starts. As more information comes along about Sabathia, make sure you keep up with Bronx Pinstripes for all the latest.
