CC Sabathia placed on DL, Phil Coke called up
Prior to tonight's game with the Red Sox, the Yankees announced that they've placed CC Sabathia on the disabled list with a groin strain. Phil Coke was signed to a major league deal and brought up from Scranton to take Sabathia's spot on the 25-man roster. Sabathia is coming off arguably his best start in three years. He went seven scoreless innings, giving up six hits while striking out six against the Orioles on Wednesday night. There was no indication that he injured himself over the course of the game. Sabathia's next scheduled start was next Monday against the Kansas City Royals. Ivan Nova, Luis Cessa and Chad Green are candidates to step in and start in CC's absence. No decision has been made yet. Stay tuned for updates.
