Game 102: King Ends Record Skid
With the Mariners on a franchise-high, 17-game losing streak, the ball was in the hand of the reigning Cy Young award winner, Felix Hernandez.
"King" Felix has shown dominance when pitching under the bright lights of New York as he posts a 3-0 record in this incarnation of Yankee Stadium without allowing a run. The 25-year old right for the Mariners allowed 1 run over 7 innings as he continues to earn praises as he does the job of an ace, end a losing streak (and oh, what a losing streak this was).
Phil Hughes opposed Felix Hernandez and continues to show small steps of improvement toward being a consistent and reliable member of the rotation. Despite giving up 9 hits over 6 innings to a below average offense; the 9 hits only totaled 2 runs.
