Game 26: Solid Sabathia Ends Losing Streak

New York Yankees 6 -- Kansas City Royals 2
Uplifting news about the next season was fuel towards a 6-2 win over the Kansas City Royals, ending a 3-game losing streak.
CC Sabathia went deep into tonight's game again. In 8 innings of work, Sabathia gave up 2 early runs but didn't allow anymore as he picked up the Yankees during a rough time in the season that many were not prepared for. A sight that Yankees fans might have to get used to (for this season) was David Robertson taking the mound in the 9th inning. With the injury that took place yesterday, the closer role will be determined and David Robertson made a good showing as he struck out the side to end the game.
Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter each provided two-run home runs to supply a majority of the offense tonight. Teixeira's fourth home run of the season came off of Royals starter Bruce Chen in the 1st inning. Then with two outs in the 7th inning and the game tied at 2, the Yankees offense erupted on Chen. Three consecutive hits, including a triple by Eduardo Nunez and the two-run home run by Derek Jeter finished off Chen who allowed 6 runs on 9 hits through 6.2 innings. Tonight's two-hit game by Derek Jeter put his average at .404, atop the Major League leaders.
