Game 42: No Offense Yankees

Kansas City Royals 6 -- New York Yankees 0
The Yankees were unable to score while they couldn't stop giving them up in tonight's 6-0 loss to the Kansas City Royals.
Hiroki Kuroda's outing would not be what was considered a bad outing, especially in comparison to some of his previous outings, as he allowed just 3 runs over 5.1 innings. Of course, the Yankees expect more innings from him but 3 runs does not put a team in a hole too deep to come back from. Three additional runs were given up by the bullpen, including a two-run home run by Jeff Francoeur off of Freddy Garcia.
The Yankees offense made the 3-0 hole Kuroda created for them more like a 10-0 lead. Felipe Paulino went 6.2 scoreless innings against the Yankees, a second dominant starting effort that may lose some credit as his starts have come during struggles by the Yankees offense. Calling the recent problems "struggles" is being generous as the Yankees were 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position. These problems were brought to light more so in the 3rd inning. Two singles and a walk got the bases-loaded with no outs and the big bats of the lineup were coming up. Robinson Cano struck out, Alex Rodriguez struck out, and Raul Ibanez flew out to deep left. The Yankees also had three situations where they had a runner on 3rd base and was not able to score. The Yankees dreadful hitting woes must be solved if the Yankees have any hopes for winning.
