Game 65: Nova Completes the Interleague Dominance

New York Yankees 4 -- Washington Nationals 1
Ivan Nova started this 9-game interleague trip with a win and ended it with a win in today's 4-1 win over the Washington Nationals, finishing it undefeated.
In 7.2 innings, Ivan Nova spread out 7 hits and contained the Nationals to just one run from the Adam LaRoche solo home run in the 2nd inning. Nova had the groundball working as 10 of his outs were ground outs. This win made him the first in the American League with 9 wins this season. This was also Nova's 5th straight victory. Not much of the bullpen was needed as Boone Logan finished off the 8th inning and Rafael Soriano shut the door with a perfect 9th for his 13th save of the season.
The Yankees offense scored half of their runs the way they are known for, the home run. Curtis Granderson and Robinson Cano each hit solo home runs in the 5th and 7th innning, respectively. However the Yankees hitting woes were more than evident again. The Yankees were hitless in 12 at-bats with runners in scoring position. Good pitching will always mask bad hitting but this type of hitting in the best scoring situations is not a statistic the Yankees want to make a habit of.
Win - Ivan Nova (9-2)
Loss - Edwin Jackson (3-4)
